bit of unluckiness
I have a bit of bad news for you all. I recently moved into my dorm here and currently I am without any means of scanning my drawings to my computer for editing. This is really unfortunate as I really want to keep you all up-to-date with my art. Presently I think I may attempt to teach myself pure digital drawing, but I also have classes coming up, so it's unlikely that they'll be anything as fancy as Oki; more likely they'll be more like the monochrome Caty.

Just a heads-up for you all. I will try with all my might to avoid letting this site just sit.

frozen north launched!
Hurrah! After a year-long hiatus, I've finally picked my art site back up. But this is no longer Kaitou-Art, the scourge of the seas...oh no...you're in snowman's country now!

Ha ha, but without further ado, I welcome you to Frozen-North, also known as Frozen North or simply F-N. The site took roughly two days from start to finish, including making all of the graphics. (That sure was fun.)

Regarding the graphics...I spent a good deal of time playing Okami on the Wii. I started the game way over a year ago and after a certain point stopped playing. I picked up where I left off about 5 weeks ago and finished the game over a span of about 2 weeks (though I didn't play for hours on end.) After 100%-ing the game...it's by far one of my favorites. I may have to play through it again to get the joy out of my system.

But anyway, near the end of the game, the player encounters the region of Kamui, a snowy place fraught with monsters and really slippery ice. (I hate video game ice.) While in Kamui, the player stumbles across the path of Oki, a warrior from Wep'keer who possesses a revered sword, a strange blue mask, and the ability to transform into a navy-blue, red-maned wolf. I adore Oki. He's one of my favorite characters in the game, because of his personality, character design, tag-teaming...

Only characters I like more than him are Issun and Ammy. (And Waka's really close.)

So I decided to base the design around him. The Japanese on the image is pulled from the same page of the art book...I haven't bothered to translate it yet.

Once I finished the graphics, I started the code ... by attempting to modify the HTML/CSS from Kaitou-Art. (Just saves time.) After accidentally opening the files in FrontPage (for some reason my computer set it to default), I decided to code the site in FrontPage, and while it made some things easier...there just isn't the same feel of coding in good old Notepad. Oh well, we all have to graduate soon, right?

Speaking of which...I'm not that far away from college! I move into my dorm room on the 20th and my classes start the following week. But between graduation (end of May) and now...I've been doing absolutely NOTHING. Sort of. Most of the time I just sit around reading books, watching a few things on TV (I've taken a liking to the BBC) and sketching some random things in my sketchbook.

Oh, did I mention I got a new sketchbook? I finally filled up the one that my friend Dei-chan gave me and for a few weeks was without a handy drawing book. So I plunked down $8 and bought a smaller sketchbook. I don't like the reduced size that much, but I like that it's more portable and the cover's made of a sturdier material. I have a few good sketches in it now, but I really need to get with it and do something on a larger scale.

Lastly, I probably will continue to post my art on deviantART. Obviously this provides more exposure, but chances are I'll post more sketchbook stuff here and some of my art won't make it onto DA. Plus, I really wanted to have a personal site that provided more about me than, say, MySpace. (Which, coincidentally, I don't have.)

Anyway, thanks for visiting and look forward to more blog posts and art updates!
